How to send a message later in mello
Send later holds a finished message on the mail server until the time you pick, so it goes out with the webmail closed. This article shows how to schedule a message, and how to send, change or cancel it before it goes.
Schedule a message
- Write your message as usual.
- Beside Send, click the clock button (Send later). The keyboard shortcut is ⌘⇧↵ on a Mac, or Ctrl+Shift+Enter.
- Pick a time: tomorrow morning (8:00), tomorrow afternoon (13:00) or monday morning (8:00).
- For any other time, choose Pick date & time…, set the date and hour, and click schedule.
Times are in your computer’s time zone. You can schedule up to a year ahead. Once scheduled, the message is on the server: you can close the tab or turn off your computer, and it still goes out on time.
Send, change or cancel a scheduled message
Scheduled messages wait in the Scheduled folder. Open one there, and a line above it says when it will be sent, with two buttons:
- Send now sends it within a few seconds.
- Cancel and edit takes it back to Drafts and opens it. Change what you like, then send it, or schedule it again for a new time.
When the time comes, mello sends the message and moves it to Sent, as if you had sent it yourself then. If it can’t be sent, for example because an address is wrong, it stays in Scheduled with a line saying so. Check the sender and recipients, then cancel, edit and send it again.
On your phone and in other apps
Send later is part of the mello webmail, which also works in your phone’s browser at mail.mello.mx. Mail apps such as Apple Mail or Thunderbird don’t have the button for mello, but they show the Scheduled folder, and a scheduled message goes out on time whichever app you read your mail in.
Next to the clock button there is a bell: it reminds you when nobody has replied. See never miss a follow-up. To put a message you received away until later, see snooze, and to take back one you’ve just sent, undo send.
