How to undo sending an email in mello
When you send a message from the webmail, mello holds it for a few seconds before it goes out, so you can still take it back: for the missing attachment, the wrong recipient, or the line you regret. This article shows how, and how to change the delay.
Take back a message
After you click Send, a note at the bottom of the screen counts down: sending in 10s, with undo beside it. Click undo, or press z, before it reaches zero. The message goes back to Drafts and opens, so you can fix it and send it again.
Once the countdown is over, the message has left: no mail service can pull it out of someone else’s inbox.
Change the delay
- Open Settings → General.
- Under Undo send delay, choose Off, or 5, 10, 20 or 30 seconds. The default is 10 seconds.
The delay holds every message you send for that long, so a longer delay means a slower send. With Off, mail goes out at once and can’t be taken back. The setting is kept with your account, so it’s the same in every browser you sign in to.
In other mail apps
Undo send is part of the mello webmail, which also works in your phone’s browser at mail.mello.mx. Mail you send from Apple Mail, Thunderbird or another app goes out at once, with no countdown.
To hold a message for longer, send it later instead: a scheduled message can be changed or cancelled until it goes.
